J. Edward Goldman, MFT

Hello everyone!  This is J. Edward Goldman, MFT, creator of Power Therapy LA.  I want to welcome you all to my new blog that I will be regularly updating with my thoughts, feelings, and experiences as a psychotherapist and human being, as well as updates in the development of my original theory and upcoming book in 2013.  I will offer you my unique perspective and lens through which to understand yourself, others, and the world at large, as we all struggle to find power, freedom, and happiness in the increasingly uncertain, disordered, and disempowering world that we are all living in.  I will be discussing life here in Los Angeles, current events around the country, and occasionally offering a global and multicultural perspective as well, because I strongly believe that my theory encompasses and is adaptable to all human beings, from all walks of life.

Power, properly understood, is the most basic category of human experience: what we are all striving for, and what everything ultimately comes down to.  The balance between power and powerlessness, according to my theory, is the ideal of mental health, where people find the most happiness, fulfillment, and life satisfaction.  It is also wherein love resides: love for oneself, love for others, romantic love, love and passion for an activity, love as way of being, and love as a motivating force in life (rather than fear or any number of negative emotions).  Stay tuned for more definitions, thoughts, explanations and experiences regarding my theory!  Thanks for reading…
